Morrison Community Hospital CEO Pam Pfister Named President-elect of ICAHN Board
Pam Pfister, CEO of Morrison Community Hospital, was named President-elect of the Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network (ICAHN) Board of Directors during its 2023 annual conference. In her new role, Ms. Pfister will support the organization and its mission to strengthen and provide assistance and resources to its 59-member rural hospitals.
Pam joined the Morrison Community Hospital in 2002 and has held various positions including clinic director, materials manager, human resources manager, renovations director, and associate administrator before stepping into the CEO role in 2013.
She led the organization through a $20.5 million expansion, which opened in 2021 and gave the hospital a new Emergency Room, a state-of-the-art Operating Room, a new laboratory department, billing and medical records departments along with adding eight patient-care rooms to the hospital.
Pam has been an active ICAHN member, as a member of ICAHN’s Trailblazer Committee since 2015, and serving as its chairperson since 2017. She also served as co-chair of ICAHN’s Regulatory and Legislative committee in 2019 and as chair in 2021.
“During the COVID pandemic, Pam played a key role in leading ICAHN’s communication efforts,” said Pat Schou, ICAHN Executive Director. “She shared her hospital’s experiences on monthly COVID calls. She is active in the local business community and forged numerous community partnerships for the hospital, especially during the COVID years.”
ICAHN hospitals serve as the primary and emergency provider for 1.4 million rural residents across the state of Illinois. ICAHN is dedicated to supporting critical access hospitals throughout Illinois and is committed to ensuring that rural communities have access to high-quality healthcare services. Through advocacy, education, and collaboration, ICAHN has made a significant impact on the healthcare landscape throughout the state.
Located in Princeton, IL, ICAHN is a network of 59 small, rural hospitals dedicated to strengthening the operations of its member hospitals through collaboration. The organization is composed of Illinois hospitals who have earned critical access hospital designation by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is recognized nationally for its work with rural healthcare, administering several state, federal, and private healthcare programs.
