 Rebecca Hutchinson honored as "4 Under 40" Hospital LeaderThe Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network (ICAHN) announced its “4 Under 40” Hospital Leadership winners, including Rebecca Hutchinson, Quality and Risk Manager, Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo, during its 15th Anniversary Celebration and Annual Conference, held October 29-30 at the I-Hotel and Conference Center, Champaign, IL.

Ms. Hutchinson is joined by Tanna McCullough, Nurse Practitioner, Lawrence County Memorial Hospital, Lawrenceville; Raigan Brown, Director of Emergency, Outpatient and Inpatient Departments, UnityPoint Health Memorial Hospital, Carthage; and Heidi Apperson, Director of Marketing and Community Relations, Kirby Medical Center, Monticello.

“Rebecca’s unwavering commitment to the organization’s provision of high quality, safe patient care is evident every day in her work,” said Lisa DeKezel, Vice President of Physician and Outpatient Services, Hammond-Henry Hospital. “She is a consistent, motivational leader within the organization who promotes and leads change while sparking passion in our employees to do the same.”

Able to integrate quality improvement into the “daily life” of Hammond-Henry Hospital, Rebecca, within just a few years in her role, leads with a collaborative, well-researched, and prepared approach that earns her the respect of her peers, staff, and leadership at all levels.

“Rebecca assumed her role as Quality and Risk Manager as our organization began its final journey toward ISO-9001 certification. Rebecca’s level of commitment to learning ISO-9001, forming up a committed team, formal establishment of the program, and implementation was exemplary,” said DeKezel. “It is without question that her leadership led us to being one of 28 critical access hospitals nationwide, and one in three in the state of Illinois, to achieve ISO-9001 certification.”

ISO-9001 is an international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system. Organizations using the standard demonstrate the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements.

In her role, Rebecca provides management-level leadership to the quality and risk management, infection control, education, and employee/community health departments. She leads the Quality Improvement Committee, with further quality reporting to the Medical Executive Committee and the Board of Directors. She also leads the IPT REAP program, and co-chairs the Safety Committee.

The “4 Under 40” Hospital Leadership Award is open to new and emerging leaders age 40 and under employed by an ICAHN member hospital or as a member of this hospital’s board for at least two years with a strong record of innovations and outstanding performance.
