Princeton, IL- The Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network (ICAHN) was one of 44 organizations to receive a grant through The Princeton Closet’s “Lending a Hand” program.

Michelle Hansen, ICAHN Director of Clinical Services, applied for the grant with the goal to become an ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) Instructor and work with another local trainer to provide workshops and education to reduce the risk of suicide within the local community.

“According to the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), suicide is the 11th leading cause of death among Americans,” Hansen said. “During the ASIST workshops, we will train participants to learn to recognize those at-risk or thinking of suicide, and provide helpful intervention and safety planning skills.”

Hansen accepted the check at The Princeton Closet on January 8, 2025, at the “Lending a Hand” program checks presentation. Tracy Warner, ICAHN Executive Director, attended the ceremony to show her support.
