Joann Emge honored for dedicated service to state hospital network

SPARTA, IL – Joann Emge, CEO, Sparta Community Hospital, was recently honored for her years of dedicated service as a leader and member of the Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network’s Board of Directors.

Ms. Emge has served ICAHN’s Education and Quality Review Committee as a member since 2005 and as chairman for several years. She has served on the ICAHN Board of Directors since 2015 and is a founding member of the Illinois Rural Community Care Organization (IRCCO) Board.

She has also been a member of the ICAHN Regulatory and Legislative Committee, the Trailblazer Committee, and Issues Committee, and served as the Nominating Committee Chair, President-Elect in 2019, and as the ICAHN Board of Directors President in 2020.

“We will truly miss having Joann on the Board as she has literally done it all, not only effectively serving in almost every capacity and committee ICAHN has throughout the years, but also serving as its President during the height of COVID,” said Pat Schou, ICAHN Executive Director. “She is a real mover, a committed person that sees value in challenge and change and celebrates every success rural healthcare has. She was the perfect person to have at the helm in 2020 and continues to be as fully vested and ready to help today as she has always been in the past. We are grateful for her dedication.”
