Free event is Oct. 24 at Mayo school

(Paris, Ill.)—The community is invited to attend a free event titled: “Crush the Epidemic,” a motivational presentation aimed at ending drug addiction, on Wednesday October 24, in Paris. The event will take place at 6 pm at Mayo Middle School, 300 East Wood Street.

Guest speaker Nick Morgan – founder of Crush the Epidemic, an addiction awareness and outreach group – will share his story of recovery and addiction to opiates and alcohol. Free resource materials will be available. The event is sponsored by CARE—Community Addiction Response and Education, a local task force developed to address opiate abuse in Edgar County.

Morgan, 24, has presented his personal story across Illinois and in other states, with hopes of helping others affected by addiction. His intent is to educate people about the opiate crisis, help them better understand and overcome the stigma of addiction, and present treatment options.

In addition to his October 24 evening presentation at Mayo school, Morgan will speak to junior high and high school students at all Edgar County schools October 24 and 25.
