2022 ICAHN Annual Conference

The 2022 ICAHN Annual Conference was held in-person for one-day-only on Thursday, November 10 from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the I-Hotel and Conference Center, 1900 S. First Street, Champaign, IL. The theme was "The Story of Rural Health: Community and You."

• ICAHN is authorized to award 5.0 hours of pre-approved ACHE Qualified Education credit for this program toward advancement, or recertification in the American College of Healthcare Executives.  Participants in this program wishing to have the continuing education hours applied toward ACHE Qualified Education credit should indicate their attendance when submitting application to the American College of Healthcare Executives for advancement or recertification. Criteria for successful completion include attendance at the entire event and submission of a completed evaluation form. The evaluation form will be emailed to you after the conference.   As workforce shortages and overuse of Emergency Departments continue to increase and be a challenge for many healthcare organizations, Dr. Campbell will focus on addressing the needs of high-risk and/or at-risk populations, social determinants of health, readmissions, expanding access, and leveraging new care delivery models to manage cost and improve affordability through the use of Community Health Workers (CHWs).   Many communities are expanding their acute care service lines by adding programs that are complementary to changing market demands. The graying of America and the shifts in rural communities have challenged our hospitals to seek new service delivery programs. We will also focus on the latest trends in Medicare and other hot topic reimbursement tips to provide ICAHN members with workable knowledge they can use to positively impact their facilities.

• - "Rural Health Fellowship and Project Development" - Presented by Kathy Fauble, Director, ICAHN Professional Education Services (Technology)
  This breakout session is for all new Fellows and mentors who are participating in the ICAHN Rural Health Fellowship. Fellows from previous cohorts are also invited to meet and greet the new class.  Discussion will focus on project and team development and how to use the resources provided through the Fellowship.

• 2:15 - 3:10 p.m. -  "A View from Hill: Rural Healthcare Policy Updates" - Presented by Carrie Cochran-McClain, Chief Policy Officer, National Rural Health Association (Chancellor Ballroom)
  The National Rural Health Association will provide information on the state of healthcare in rural America from a policy standpoint. Participants will hear about the initiatives NRHA is focusing on to impact the provision of rural health, as well as have an opportunity provide input on future policy directions. Carrie is the head lobbyist for NRHA and is responsible for driving the policy agenda for rural health. She has more than 20 years of experience working in federal health policy development, including leadership roles at Health Management Associates, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy.

• 3:15 - 4:15 p.m. -  Going Beyond Employee Engagement: Exploring the Culture of Work - Presented by Dr. Brad Shuck, Author, Tenured Professor at the University of Louisville, and Co-Founder of OrgVitals (Chancellor Ballroom)
  Few ideas have generated more excitement in recent years than employee engagement. Everyone wants more of it, yet, results often vary widely. What seems to be missing from the conversation is an understanding of the science behind engagement, as well as a deeper understanding around how the practice of engagement is so deeply connected to outcomes that matter every day, including belonging and purpose.
