- Position Summary:
Job Summary: The Physical Therapist provides direct patient care in the hospital to inpatients, swing bed patients, and outpatients. PT’s examine individuals to develop a plan using treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability. In addition, PT’s work with individuals to prevent the loss of mobility before it occurs by developing fitness and wellness orientation programs for heathier and more active lifestyles. PT’s promote program development, participates in staff and community education, and may supervise PT students according to the agreement with the participating school. By attending meetings and learning experiences within the department, hospital and community, the Physical Therapist contributes to his/her own professional growth and development.
Education and Experience: Graduate of an approved school of Physical Therapy; Licensed. Demonstrate competency in Physical Therapy through previous work experience and/or student/clinical affiliations; Maintenance of competency through active participation in continuing education courses.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Good interpersonal communication skills; Ability to work independently; Ability to use proper body mechanics when lifting, pushing and pulling; Motor coordination to work with equipment; Ability to understand oral/written instructions; Understanding of rehabilitation and medical terminology.
