  • Position Summary:

    EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
    Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Required.  Master’s degree preferred. Current Nursing License in Illinois required. 

     

    EXPERIENCE:
    Minimum 5 years experience as an acute care registered nurse and experience in a nursing leadership role is required.   Work with departments such as surgery, ICU and/or emergency is preferred.  Critical Access Hospital experience preferred.   

     

    SKILLS:
    Exemplary critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills required; ability to work independently as part of a multi-disciplinary team; demonstrated strong communication, organizational and leadership skills.  Knowledge of The Joint Commission standards

     

    NATURE OF WORK:

    The Chief Nursing Officer is a member of the FMH executive team, reporting to the CEO. They work closely with physicians, mid-level practitioners, all department managers and front line staff.

    The purpose of the Chief Nursing Officer is to provide leadership and to enhance the quality of patient care provided to hospital patients.  In addition, the CNO works with other members of the healthcare team to assure that the services provided to the community are in line with the Hospital’s purpose, vision and values.  He / she has responsibility for the management of all nursing practices.

    The Chief Nursing Officer must have knowledge of current theoretical approaches to delivering nursing care and strategies for examining and applying relevant concepts and current leadership, management, and performance improvement concepts and the ability to participate in developing and implementing strategies to address opportunities for improving nursing care.

     

    Supervises:  Skilled care, Med-Surg, ICU, Swing Bed,  Cardiopulmonary, Surgery, Pharmacy, Utilization Review, Infection Control, Anesthesia, PT/OT/Speech, Emergency Medicine, Clinical Practice Coordinator
