  • Position Summary:

    Marshall Browning Hospital is a 25-bed critical access Hospital located in Du Quoin, IL.  MBH is looking for a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to work closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to oversee the hospital’s ongoing operations and procedures. As a key member of the senior management team, the COO reports directly to the CEO and develops policies that promote hospital culture and vision. Must have proven leadership skills and understand healthcare financial accounting. The COO must maintain the highest level of integrity and lead by example in all areas.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide day-to-day leadership and management
    • Responsible for driving the company to increase profitability, cash flow, and hospital goals and objectives
    • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and public speaking skills, both practiced and impromptu
    • Dedication to building and growing a strong and stable workforce
    • Ability to comfortably and energetically present the hospital and its services publicly
    • Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities, including the ability to recognize and cultivate rising talent
    • High-level understanding of all business functions such as IT, HR, finance, marketing, etc.
    • Aptitude in sound decision-making and problem-solving in pressure situations
    • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, policies, processes, and staff
    • Patient/customer service and satisfaction must be a priority

    Requirements and Qualifications:

    • At least 5 years critical access hospital (CAH) experience
    • BS in Business Administration or relevant field; MBA is a plus
    • Proven experience as Chief Operating Officer or a similar position in a CAH
    • Competent in strategic planning and business development
    • Understanding of data analysis and performance/operation metrics
