This four-module certificate course provides you with a foundational understanding of how to develop or improve your telehealth program and focuses on the importance of creating a detailed workplan.

Topics include:

Module 1: Planning

  • Current laws, licensing, and regulations for the provisions of telehealth services
  • Examples of checklists for scheduling telehealth sessions
  • Specific steps to incorporate telehealth into your existing workflow

Module 2: Preparing

  • Technology platforms that are HIPAA compliant and right for your organization and for patients
  • Room set-up, camera, microphone, monitors to use for a successful telehealth session
  • How to successfully market your telehealth services to patients and the community

Module 3: Providing

  • Relationship building/maintaining when you are on a screen and not in-person
  • Positive telepresence from the perspective of the provider and the perspective of the patient
  • Communication skills, plain language, and health literacy best practices

Module 4: Payment

  • Conditions for payment of telehealth services
  • Instructions for locating and appending CPT and HCPCS coding and modifiers for telehealth services
  • Reference sites for telehealth billing and payment rules
