This webinar will combine virtual simulation and case-based discussion to give learners the ability to differentiate acid-base balance issues, metabolic or respiratory causes, and respiratory compensation. Topics include:

  • Identify priority aspects of a respiratory assessment.
  • Review normal and abnormal lung etiology and related lung sounds.
  • Identify components of ABG analysis, including acid-base balance, metabolic vs respiratory, and compensation.
  • Identify expected treatment options based on ABG analysis, including nasal cannula, various masks, mechanical ventilation, common RT treatments and expected medications.

Kelli Whittington, PhD, strives to bridge the gap between textbook and bedside by providing applicable knowledge to client-based scenarios. With over 30 years of nursing experience, Dr. Whittington now serves as the Program Director for the BSN program at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
