Appropriate use of pain management drugs is a crucial skill in treating patients with breakthrough pain and chronic pain. We will discuss in detail the WHO analgesic ladder, and provide applied examples of different agents and where they fall. Discuss in detail the various agents, monitoring parameters, and their role in the management of chronic/acute pain. After attending this webinar, you will be better able to know when and how to treat pain.

OBJECTIVES:

• Describe the world health organization analgesic ladder as it relates to pain management.
• Compare and contrast opioid and non-opioid analgesics as it relates to their mechanism of action, side effects, and place in therapy.
