OVERVIEW: At times, it can be difficult for employers or supervisors to recognize and understand when employees may be engaging in substance use until it becomes too late. This workshop will allow participants to better identify what substance use may look like in their employee’s performance and overall demeanor. It will also discuss how an employer or supervisor can approach the individual who may be engaging in substance use in the most appropriate and professional manner.

OBJECTIVES:

  • Identify physical and behavioral signs and symptoms that supervisors may see or can be looking for in employees who may be using substances.
  • Review the long-term issues of substance abuse, both physically and mentally.
  • Identify steps supervisors can take in approaching employees who may be using substances.
  • Recognize the importance of wellness and "taking care of ourselves."

Stacy Brown, LCPC, LMHC is the Vice President of Behavioral Health Services at Bridgeway Inc.
