OVERVIEW: Learners will leave this presentation with an understanding of how and why cardiovascular studies have changed the treatment guidelines for diabetes.

- Explain why additional studies on cardiovascular impact are required for new diabetic medications.
- Discuss results of various cardiovascular-outcome trials findings.
- Illustrate the impact cardiovascular trials have had on the American Diabetes Association Guidelines focusing on updates made based on study results.
Jennifer Frericks, RPh, CDCES Jennifer is a pharmacist and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist with over 20 years of healthcare experience. She has spent most of her time in healthcare focusing on improvement of diabetic education. Her patients feel she is an essential member of their healthcare team. Jennifer was part of the original team who developed the Diabetes Center at Blessing Hospital.
