Care and Management of the Afib, Congestive Heart Failure, and Hypertensive Patient
Three - Part Webinar Series: March 23, 30 and April 6 from 12:30-1:15 p.m.
This three-part series covers what critical access hospital nurses need to know about each disease state and how to educate patients in self-monitoring and care. Sessions feature lecture and case-based discussion.
March 23 - Care and Management of Atrial Fibrillation Patient
- Recognize symptoms of atrial fib.
- Describe how to quickly assess stability of arrhythmia.
- Identify appropriate ways to manage patients who present with atrial fib.
March 30 - Care and Management of the Congestive Heart Failure Patient
- Recognize sighs and symptoms of heart failure.
- Discuss commonly used tests and treatment options.
- Identify appropriate ways to educate patients in self-monitoring and care.
April 6 - Care and Management of the Hypertensive Patient
- Recognize risk factors for developing hypertension.
- Discuss major risk factors for the development of hypertension.
- Explain hemodynamic and physiological complications if hypertension persists.
- Discuss how to provide education to patients in an effort to reduce hypertensive crisis and adverse complications.
Presenter:
Amanda Simpson, RN has been an inpatient clinical nurse for over 10 years, as well as a supervisory and educator. She is a heart failure patient champion and enjoys helping others see the big picture of clinical presentations.
