As a Certified Professional Coder, Michele provides remote coding services for critical access and small, rural hospitals within the ICAHN network. She is responsible for medical coding, and in particular, assigning the appropriate CPT codes and the sequencing of ICD-10 codes after reviewing and abstracting information from provider documentation. She contacts providers and/or medical staff to resolve documentation conflicts by querying as necessary. Michele is also responsible for auditing a percentage of coded accounts to determine the accuracy of CPT and ICD-10 codes, with an end result of providing educational feedback opportunities to hospital department staff and providers.
