Position Description: Emergency Room Coordinator, RN

Job Summary:  Assesses and analyzes collected data; when involved in patient care, formulates a nursing plan of care; implements the plan; evaluates the patient and family needs and nursing care; provides age specific patient care; provides educational needs for patients, significant others and staff; manages patient care assignments; demonstrates professional and clinical competency; acts in a leadership role; inter- and intra-departmental problem solving; serves as a clinical/resource consultant for staff; assists in the cardiac stress lab when needed; provides age specific patient care; gathers and records information for Emergency Department Quality improvement; assists in developing budget for this area; provides educational needs for patients, significant others, and staff; purchases and maintains patient care equipment and supplies; oversees day to day clinical operations under the Guidance of the Director of Outpatient Services; performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:  Diploma, Associate or Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing; one year of previous experience in ED or critical care nursing experience; current and valid license with the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation; current CPR, PALS, ACLS, TNCC or TNS, NRP and ECRN certifications preferred and required after one year of employment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  Position requires critical decision making ability in emergency situations, good communication skills; ability to work independently; ability to use proper body mechanics when lifting, pushing and pulling; motor coordination to work with equipment.
