ICAHN Annual Conference

ICAHN hosts its 17th Annual Conference for hospital leaders, department managers, executives, and hospital board members on Tuesday-Wednesday, November 14-15 at the I-Hotel and Conference Center, Champaign, IL. The theme for the event is "Creating Connections: Building for the Future!" Registration for both vendor and hospital attendees is now open, plus early bird registration of $100 per individual for hospital board members only through October 16th. ACHE Credit will be awarded. Criteria for successful completion include attendance at the entire session and submission of a completed evaluation form. The evaluation form will be emailed to you after the event.   • 9:40 a.m. to 11 a.m.  Roger Clayton, Attorney, Healthcare Practice Group, Heyl Royster will discuss understanding fiduciary duty, potential liability and the Yates Memo, Macro View and not micromanaging, understanding basic government healthcare payment systems, introduction to the regulation of healthcare by federal and state agencies, role of HHS, CMS, OIG, OCR, AHRQ, Rural Health and the DOJ, special considerations for government hospitals, the requirement that compliance plans be effective, the role of the board in investigations, and the role of outside counsel with the board.
  • 11 a.m. to noon  Ralph Llewellyn, CPA, CHFP, Partner, Director of Critical Access Hospitals, Eide Bailly will be the featured speaker for the latter portion of this training. In this session, participants will look at proposed alternative reimbursement models for rural facilities and how they might impact your facility and community. If these models come into play, what strategy/solution is best for your community? Mr. Llewellyn will discuss the benefits of these proposed models, along with the unforeseen challenges they might create.
