Medication side effects explored in L/CAEC's spring Conference


The Lawrence & Crawford Association for Exceptional Citizens' Spring Conference for medical professionals will be held on Thursday, April 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Quail Creek Country Club, located at 1010 E. Highland, Robinson, IL. Jeffrey Bennett, MD, FAPA, will present "Medication Side Effects." Registration opens at 3:30 p.m. Light hors d'oeuvres will be provided, and a cash bar will be available.

Dr. Bennett joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Director of the Department of Psychiatry Residency Program in 2003. He has since held several posts (Director, Division of Developmental Disabilities, Psychiatry Clerkship Director, and Director, Division of Adult Services). In 2014, he became the Donnelly Family Endowed Professor in Developmental Disabilities and subsequently, an SIU SOM Academy Scholar in 2015.

Dr. Bennett is board certified in psychiatry. He currently serves as Immediate Past President for the Illinois Psychiatry Society. He serves as a delegate to the Illinois State Medical Society, an Area 4 Representative to the American Psychiatric Association Assembly, and a member of the American Psychiatric Association Telepsychiatry and Membership Committees. He is a member of the American Neuropsychiatric Association, American Medical Association, and Association for Academic Psychiatry.

• ACCREDITATION: This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint providership of Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and the Lawrence/Crawford Association for Exceptional Citizens. The SIU School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

• CREDIT: The SIU School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 2.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits(TM). Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

SIU School of Medicine is preapproved as a continuing nursing education provider pursuant to Section 1300.130, subsection c), 1), B) and P) of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Nurse Practice Act. Nurses may receive a maximum of 2.0 contact hours for completing this activity. All other attendees will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

Cost for physicians is $150 per individual. Cost for FNPs and PAs is $75, and cost for RNs and LPNs is $50.


Completed forms plus payment should be sent to: L/CAEC, 905 W. Mulberry, Robinson, IL 62454 no later than April 16th. All participants will receive certificates of attendance. Participants cancelling their registration at least 72 hours in advance will be entitled to a refund, less a $25 administrative fee. No refund or credit will be given for cancellations of less than 72 hours before the workshop or for notification of non-attendnace after the workshop.
