Katie Meusel, RN, BSN, Clinic Manager, Midwest Medical Clinic Group, Galena, was named the Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network’s 2017 “Outstanding Young Leader” during ceremonies held November 14th at the I Hotel and Conference Center, Champaign, IL.
“ICAHN’s ‘Outstanding Young Leader’ award is granted to those role models, agents of change, and health innovators who not only shape policy but engage others in successful teamwork,” said Pat Schou, ICAHN Executive Director. “Katie is one of those people who shows great promise, and we are honored to give her this award.”
As Clinic Manager, Ms. Meusel has supervised the addition of new physicians to the group, as well as specialty providers. Most recently, Midwest Medical Center contracted with a new orthopedic surgeon, and Katie was instrumental in the success of his clinic. She also supervised the implementation of chronic care management, Annual Wellness Visits, and “Lunch and Learn” educational events for Medicare patients.
“Katie leads by example. She is always willing to take on any role within the clinic and hospital to help the organization, and she goes above and beyond to ensure the needs of patients are met. She also leads by finding solutions to problems,” said Tracy Bauer, Midwest Medical Center CEO. “If we want to ensure a project is successful, we put Katie on the team.”
Ms. Meusel has also been active with the Illinois Rural Community Care Organization for Midwest Medical Center and has led a team to improve the EHR to handle Annual Wellness Visits. “Katie set a goal within the clinic for FY2017 to go from zero annual wellness visits to 50. The clinic exceeded this goal within the first six months of the fiscal year under Katie’s leadership,” Bauer added. “We are very proud of her accomplishments and know she is very deserving of this award.”
