Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Chief Executive Officer, Katherine Bunting-Williams, Ph.D. is very excited to announce the opening of an Outpatient Behavioral Health Therapy Program for the community. The decision to expand upon existing clinical services offered by the hospital was determined based upon an identified need for access to mental health counseling services.
“Fairfield Memorial Hospital identified the great need for this service through the assessment of community focus groups, analysis of demographics, and statistics relating to the medical care and behavioral health component for the area we serve. We believe that every individual deserves to be treated holistically, which encompasses not only the treatment of the physical body, but also that of the mind as they are interrelated. Studies have shown that a positive mental health regimen has proven to have a positive overall effect on a person’s general well-being. Therefore, it was imperative that we offer this service to our community,” stated Dr. Bunting-Williams, FMH CEO.
Jill Barnfield, LCSW, is providing the counseling services through Horizon Healthcare. Jill comes to Horizon Healthcare with seventeen years of clinical experience. She has been doing counseling in a private practice setting since 2003. She holds a Masters of Social Work from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, and has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2000. Jill, an area native, resides in Fairfield with her husband Barry Barnfield.
“I am pleased to join the excellent care team at Horizon Healthcare, and to have the opportunity to fill a very important need for quality mental healthcare in our community. With today’s fast paced lifestyle, we all face a wide variety of difficult changes. The pressures of daily living frequently leave us feeling overwhelmed, and often lead to stress, depression, relationship and behavioral issues. My goal is to provide a comfortable environment where our patients can feel accepted and understood, while learning to manage these difficulties in a positive, healthy manner. I’m very excited about my role in educating our entire community that counseling is a well proven way to help us better enjoy our lives and the relationships we have with others,” stated Jill Barnfield, LCSW, Clinical Therapist at Horizon Healthcare.
The Outpatient Behavioral Health Therapy program will focus on providing counseling services to individuals, couples and families, including children, teens, and adults. Those dealing with issues of anxiety, depression, family conflict, medical illness, and behavioral difficulties will benefit from the program, as well as those with a more severe mental health diagnosis. A variety of interventions and coping skills will be provided, based upon individual treatment planning and agreed upon by the patient and the healthcare team.
“I am pleased to have Jill Barnfield on board and providing counseling services, as her experience in clinical therapy will help us fine tune our mission to positively influence the health of those we serve,” stated Katherine Bunting-Williams, Ph.D., FMH CEO.
