Perry Memorial Hospital hosted Camp Med, a health science camp for junior high school students, on June 8 - 11. 15 students participated in the 4 day camp that explored careers in healthcare. Students were introduced to healthcare professionals in laboratory, radiology, rehabilitation, nursing, respiratory, pharmacy, orthopedics, emergency, dietary, plant operations and surgery. In addition, the campers engaged in a variety of hands on activities like reading x-rays, creating laboratory cultures, making splints and casts, taking vital signs and avarious other health related activities. The camp was funded through a grant from Northwestern Illinois AHEC Network.
